HEALTHY LIVING AWARD

 The healthyliving award was created to make it easier for people eating out to know where to go for healthier food. 

It was set up to encourage the food service industry to provide healthier food on their menus. The aim is to actively reduce the amount of fat, salt and sugar in food served, and to make fruit and vegetables more easily available. These aims are reflected in the conditions on which the award is based.

The award has been designed to make caterers think about the food that they serve, particularly relating to the cooking methods and ingredients that are used. The guidelines provide practical advice on how to make the more healthy, in particular how to reduce salt, fat and sugar in the food that is served and how to support healthy eating.

The award recognises an organisation-wide commitment to provide and support healthier eating, expressed through how a food service establishment works. The award should raise standards further within the food service industry and have the best possible effect on the population as a whole.
