The Encore cafe at the Emirates Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome has been awarded the Soil Association’s Gold Food for Life Catering Mark for the second year running.
The prestigious award is a unique, UK-wide recognition which rewards public and private sector caterers who serve fresh food that is free from controversial additives, better for animal welfare, locally sourced and sustainable.
Commercial operations manager Ross McKenzie and his team at the Emirates Arena, including hospitality service manager Brian Martin and head chef Ross Welch, have worked tirelessly to ensure they maintain a high standard deserving of the Soil Association’s top award.
“This is a fantastic achievement for Encore at this iconic venue which had a prominent role during the Commonwealth Games this summer,” said Ross.
“The gold medal is testament to the consistently high standards we deliver and our commitment to sustainability.”
Last year saw the Emirates Arena become the first leisure facility in the UK to be awarded this prestigious award.
