The summer of 2014 was an unforgettable time not only for Glasgow, but also for Cordia. Over 600 staff formed the Cordia workforce during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, catering to visitors, athletes and dignitaries in eight Games venues across the city.
We also secured the provision of catering services for Police Scotland, the Scotland Fire and Rescue Service, Commonwealth House (the HQ of the Commonwealth Games organisers) and the Commonwealth Games Uniform Accreditation Centre.
With 96% of all available tickets being sold, the attendance figures and the atmosphere of the Glasgow 2014 Games have seen it heralded as “the best Games ever” by HRH Prince Imran of Malaysia, President of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Cordia staff received high praise from all sources including the Games workforce and visitors to Glasgow.
A Games-wide survey of 20,000 visitors found 91% of spectators enjoyed their Games experience, and the top three words used in feedback were “fantastic”, “exciting” and “fun”. Athletes set nine world records during 11 days of competition and broke 142 Commonwealth Games records.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our staff who worked tirelessly at Games venues.
The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games were the single biggest event carried out by Cordia. It was an outstanding success that confirmed our ability to deliver at a huge international event.
