MANAGING DIRECTOR

 
Fergus is the Managing Director of Cordia and has overall responsibility for the running of the organisation.
 
 Fergus’ key role is to effectively manage the resources of the organisation delivering frontline services. He is responsible for ensuring that the objectives of the business plan are met. In addition to this direct management function, Fergus works with a number of external customer and partner agencies such as Glasgow City Council, the Scottish Government, the Food Standards Agency, and the Health and Safety Executive. Fergus is regularly involved in handling media enquiries and providing comments and interviews for print, online and television. He is also a leading member of the Cordia board.
 
Fergus is a keen supporter of charities and especially those promoting young people in the workplace. His is a trustee of HIT Scotland.

Fergus spent the first half of his career in the private sector working for two major contract caterers and then for Douwe Egberts firstly in Scotland and then in London. He joined the public sector in 1988 as Depute Director of Catering (Catering Direct) for Strathclyde Regional Council. He was appointed as a Director of Glasgow City Council at the time of local government reorganisation in 1995/96. He is married and has two grown up children. He is regularly asked to speak at conferences at home and abroad on general business and specific issues relating to his job.
