CHAIR

Ruth is Chair of the Cordia board and is an elected member of Glasgow City Council representing Ward 9, Calton.

Ruth has overall responsibility for the workings of Cordia and chairs board meetings. She contributes to strategy and approves initiatives presented by the directorate of Cordia.

 

She is a graduate if the University of Glasgow and taught History for 20 years, the last 12 of which she was Principal of History at North Kelvinside Secondary School in Glasgow. Ruth is a mother of a grown-up son and daughter and grandmother to Euan aged 9 years and Calum aged 3.

 
Her previous posts include: Vice-Convener of Roads and Transportation; Vice-Convener of Financial Services and Honorary City Treasurer. As Treasurer she was a member of the Budget Working Group which at that time had responsibility for an annual revenue and capital account of £2.2 billion.
