Boardley's got talent!

Encore's development and hospitality services manager judges Glasgow City Council competition.
On Friday, June 13, our very own Ian Boardley, Encore’s development and hospitality services manager, took on a judging position for Glasgow City Council’s Glasgow’s Got Talent event which took place in the City Chambers Banqueting Hall.

12 finalists battled it out to win the competition, with entrants from all across the council family including Land and Environmental Services, Social Work Services, and Revenue and Benefits.

But the lucky winner was pianist Rhona Franklin who stole the show with compositions of her own.

On the night, Boardley and the other three judges (Lynn Dalgleish, Pauline Redmond, and Alan Speirs) performed their very own rendition of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”, which was received by the 300-strong crowd with rapturous applause.

Speaking about the event, Boardley said, “I possess a ruthless honesty, but I always give fair consideration for a passionate performance.

“It was a tough decision but, ultimately, Rhona deserved to win and I am incredibly happy to have taken part.”

Over £900 was raised on the night, and this money went to UNICEF, the official charity of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
