Cordia driver awarded Heart of Gold

George Laird has been recognised by Cordia for having had a hugely positive impact on two pupils he transports to school.
Transport and Support Services (TASS) driver George Laird has been awarded with a prestigious Heart of Gold. George was highly commended by Dalmarnock Primary School head teacher Nancy Clunie after she recognised the positive impact George was having on two pupils he transports to the school each day.
“George is an absolute star,” said Nancy. “He sets the pupils up perfectly for learning each day during the journey with him to school. They often talk about things George has pointed out on their journeys.”
The retired firefighter, who has worked with TASS for over four years, is overwhelmed by the award but insists all the drivers deserve recognition for the work they do.
“I’m chuffed to bits to receive the Heart of Gold. It’s not often you get recognised for your work,” he said.
“I might be receiving this award but all the TASS drivers do the same great work every day for vulnerable people in Glasgow.”
George was presented with his Heart of Gold by head teacher Nancy Clunie and manager Willie Darroch.
