School pupils tuck into festive lunches
School pupils all across Glasgow tucked into their festive lunch this month.
The lunches served in schools between 12 and 16 December and sees Cordia prepare lunches for more than 70,000 customers.
Pupils will have the option of a traditional lunch with vegetarian and halal meals also available. This will see 535 turkeys, 2.5 tonnes of sprouts, 1,550 kilograms of potatoes plus gallons upon gallons of gravy being served over the week.
Julia McCreadie, head of facilities management said: “Preparing a seasonal lunch of this scale for our pupils each year is a challenge, but it’s one our catering teams really enjoy.
The achievement is even greater as we’re preparing our biggest yet.
The excitement about Christmas is building and each school always gets into the spirit of the holidays, as do our hard-working staff. I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas lunch in the company of their classmates this week.”
